January 9th

On January 9, 1865, the Confederate States of America held their last cabinet meeting, effectively bringing an end to the Civil War. This meeting took place at the Confederate White House in Richmond, Virginia, and was attended by President Jefferson Davis and his cabinet members.

The Confederate States of America, also known as the Confederacy, was a breakaway government formed by 11 southern states in the United States in 1861.
